Why We Decided to Build Meghmallar Retreat

The idea of Meghmallar Retreat was born out of a lifelong dream to create a perfect sanctuary—a second home away from the hustle and bustle of city life, where we could retreat upon retirement. From the very beginning, we envisioned a place that harmoniously blends the serenity of nature with the comforts of a home.
Our love for the mountains, with their pristine beauty, unpolluted air, and invigorating weather, fueled our dream of having a mountain home. We sought a location that offered the tranquility of nature but was also conveniently accessible to a major city with reliable air, road, and rail connectivity.
The search began in 2006, and after exploring numerous locations, we found our dream spot in the Himalayan foothills of Darjeeling district, near Kurseong. Famous for its world-renowned tea and breathtaking views of the Himalayas, Kurseong provided the perfect backdrop for our vision. Situated 2273 feet above Kurseong town (4864 ft), at an elevation of 7137 feet, our property is surrounded by reserve forests and offers an uninterrupted view of the majestic Himalayan range.
With eight luxurious bedroom suites and five expansive sundecks, Meghmallar Retreat is a haven of peace and natural beauty. Inspired by our struggles to secure bookings at rest houses, we decided to create this private retreat to share with others.
